Area Sportswriter Discovered to be Alive

The15, after a short but thorough investigation have determined that Sean McAdam and the late Nick Cafardo are two different people entirely, with only half of them being dead. A graphic from the March 12, 2025 article March Mediot Madness Intermission Update & Errata incorrectly identified Mr. McAdam as being the late Mr. Cafardo. We regret the mistake, and any understandable consternation that it may have caused with either of their respective groups of families, friends, and coworkers. We will be more careful in the future and wish Mr. McAdam continued long life and employment with MassLive, which is a real thing.

it has come to the attention of The15 that the name of a former employee of this organization is on the list of alleged high-end brothel clients that was released in Cambridge District Court either today, or at a later probable cause hearing. However, a review of our records indicate said employee was previously fired before this occurred for an entirely unrelated sexual transgression. Therefore, we consider the matter concluded.

The15 take delight in the knowledge we have much to discuss as Boston sports fans. The Red Sox are coming out of the All-Star break in the playoff hunt. The World Champion Celtics are playing the kids in the NBA Summer League. The Patriots training camp is soon to open. Bruins fans wait for news on netminder Swayman’s new contract. And then there’s always the Revs, amirite? In other non-local sports, the British Open starts today and the Summer Olympics begin next week. And so much more. So after a spirited discussion, where several not unkind things were said, the matter of this wildcat ‘summer hiatus’ has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of all involved. Mr. Scartelli will be on modified limited hiatus, as long as he provides a ‘Sports Junk Drawer’ column every week during said hiatus. In closing, we wish to thank all our readers for their passion and loyalty.

For Immediate Release – Solidarity Action

We, the writing staff of The15net dot com, as a show of support to our striking brother and sister creatives in the Writers Guild of America, as of today, May 4, 2023 are engaged in a solidarity action. Nothing new will be written for the site as long as the grievances of the WGA remain unaddressed.

We do more writing as a society than ever before. It has now become the primary way we gather information and interact and connect with others. To allow writing to become devalued reduces us all immeasurably.

(Note – As the Sports Junk Drawer column regularly contains less than 49% newly written material it will be allowed to continue on its regular weekly publishing schedule during this sympathy strike.)

“We are aware of the allegations circulating on social media about a man under Vernon Dozier’s employ being dropped off in front of Addison Gilbert Hospital, unconscious, at 3am this morning.

We will not make any further comment on these events until the facts have been established by the proper authorities. However, The 15 does not condone criminal activity of any kind, and will be fully cooperative in any way we can.

Mr. Dozier is employed on a freelance level. That relationship will be reviewed at the appropriate time, pending results of the investigation. Until then, he will be presumed innocent, and continue his duties unencumbered.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE —

Following the passing of Boston sports legend, Bill Russell, many of you may have noticed the disgusting attempts by certain notorious local ghouls to profiteer off of his death by leveraging the grief that we all feel into gains for their personal media brand. We have noticed this as well, and with high degree of distress.

After prayerful thought and in heeding the advisement of our counsel, we have settled our pending litigation with Vernon Dozier and re-installed him as our multi-sport beat writer effective immediately.

We now recognize that his extensive reporting about one Shukri Wrights was in fact correct, and admit that Mr. Dozier’s termination was indeed wrongful. We are pleased that rights can be wronged and fences mended in this case. Mr. Wrights’ attention seeking behavior over the past 24 hours has been deplorable, and perfectly fits the pattern that Vernon Dozier so painstakingly laid out previously. Shukri wandered around the city of Boston looking for cameras during a time that called for introspection. He made a video comparing himself to Bill Russell on a day where dropping our ego to venerate the greatness we just lost should’ve been the order of the day. We now stand by that prior reporting and blindly vouch for what he’ll continue to unearth in the future about this and other topics.

A Few Words From Mr. Dozier:

I am pleased to reunite with my family at The15. Some harsh words have been exchanged in the last few months, but no bridges burned. No lasting harm done.

This kind of reconciliation is really not all that uncommon when you think about it in sports terms. For example, sometimes baseball teams trade away players in the final year of their contract, and then bring that player back via free agency following the season.

I’m willing to be at the bottom again, to earn back my readership. I’m a team player and will do whatever is needed of me to win. A switch hitter, to borrow another example from my beloved baseball. It’s great to be docking with you all again on this beautiful pirate ship. But pirates sail, and we will embark again amidst a sea of subpar sports media. We will be cruising again in no time.

It’s very gratifying to have my reporting completely vindicated. I pledge to continue to give my readers the unassailable truth.

We wish to issue a heartfelt apology with regard to our now-shelved sale price from yesterday on ‘Wicked Pissah Beantown Chowderheads Platinum Elite’ and other Site Memberships done in conjunction with the celebration of Juneteenth. As we view it here, any holiday that brings attention to Confederate perfidy is ok in our book. We certainly didn’t mean any offense with our intern’s careless phrasing. Offering ‘Three-Fifths the usual price’ could be, and no doubt was, percieved as being culturally insensitive. That was not our intent. No reasonable person could ever credibly accuse The15 of being racist, either as individuals or as an organization. As an apology, persons of color are welcome to take 19% off in our store on purchases made today ONLY.

The15net dot com takes delight in executing the journalistic imperative to comfort the afflicted (Boston sports fans) and to afflict the comfortable (Boston sports media). Mr. Vernon Dozier has constantly and consistently performed his job to a high standard and with impeccable conduct. An internal review of the article in question, from May 14th of this year, finds nothing actionable. At all. The organization stands foursquare behind Vernon, and indeed behind all our employees. We will not be bullied away from our mission by baseless threats of legal action be it for slander, defamation, or even replevin for a cow. Winner of the 2022 NITwit Invitational T*ournament Disqualified.

After a short but thorough investigation, it has been discovered that the winner of the 2022 NITwit Invitational T*ournament, a Mr. Steven R. Lowell of Reading, MA, was ineligible to compete owing to violations of the T*ournament’s morals clause and PED policy. Resultantly, the runner up, a Mr. Brian Spulpit-Phillips, of no fixed address has been installed as the 2022 Champion.
